I love coaching, teaching, and mentoring. And also design and website development.
As a designer I’m probably supposed to say I have a passion for design, and that web development is my life.
I do enjoy them, but helping others be and do better is really what I love. Whether it’s the team I lead, or my clients, I find satisfaction in educating and encouraging, and then watching them succeed.
I believe relationships are the foundation for success.
I used to be a pastor. The skills I developed in that role helped me transition to and excel in the field of design and marketing. I was asked to lead InteractRV’s design team after only three months of experience as an entry-level web and graphic designer, and two years as a freelancer prior to that.
As a website and graphic design production lead I mentored a team of 25+, including web, email, and graphic designers, front-end developers, website support specialists, project managers, and sub-team supervisors.
Although my career path is unconventional, having no design-related degree, my varied experience has definitely been an asset in my role as a designer, front-end developer, speaker, and team leader.
I believe customer relationships drive growth. And, I believe design is vital for developing those quality relationships.
From the first time "meeting" to the 100th purchase, customers are looking for businesses they can fall in love with. Consistent, quality design, such as the custom website, appealing digital ads, billboards, and in-store signage I created for this local business, helps make those connections.
I believe in supporting local communities. That’s why I team up regularly with local business owners and the Chamber of Commerce to deliver workshops about marketing, branding, social media, websites, and more, and to develop "shop local" campaigns.
If our local businesses are empowered to thrive, then our community will be empowered, as well.
I believe teams work. One of my favorite things is to see my team of individuals with their varying personalities and strengths come together to make projects flow, look, and work better.
I don’t mind working alone, and do often when I help local small businesses through my side-busines. But I love leading my team of project managers, graphic designers, and front-end developers, all excelling in their roles, to make awesome things, like these websites (and hundreds more), along with new website features, digital ads, marketing emails, and more.
I started out in this field building websites for smaller churches who needed a better web presence that was easy to edit. When I didn't find a CMS that seemed quite right for my clientele, I built my own from scratch using PHP and MySQL. I designed, developed, and built each website myself. And I still do, from time to time.
My role with InteractRV has involved a lot of development, as well, including leading and contributing to:
But, I am not only a developer, I am also a designer: websites, logos, billboards, signage, digital ads, print flyers, and more. Below is a limited sample of some of that work from the past 12 years.
